The standard
Every Tasker here clears this first
We don’t show star ratings until real customers have reviewed real jobs. What’s true today is the standard everyone met to get here — so that’s what we show.

The band is the floor and ceiling the pricing engine uses for organizing work across the GTA — the low end is a single session on one room, the high end a multi-day whole-home sort. It is generated from the price table rather than typed here, so it moves when the table does. It is not an average of past bookings, and it does not include hauling anything away, which is a separate trip with its own vehicle.

Post this taskWhat home organizing and decluttering actually costs here, and why
Home & Lifestyle is a shelf rather than a service, and it is worth saying so before anything else. Five different things sit under it and they are not bought by the same person for the same reason. Decluttering and home organizing are one purchase: somebody comes to your home and helps you decide what stays and where it lives. House sitting is a different one entirely — somebody in your home while you are away, taking in the post, moving the bins, watering things and keeping the place looking lived in. A personal shopper is an errand with a receipt at the end of it. A personal stylist is about clothes and appearance rather than storage. If you came here for one of those last three, the links on this page take you straight to it. Everything below is about the first one, because organizing is what people actually search this shelf for.
A professional organizer is a decision-making service that happens to involve tidying. The physical part — pulling everything out of a closet, sorting it into groups, putting it back — is quick, and any competent pair of hands can manage it. The slow part is deciding, item by item, whether a thing is worth the space it occupies, and that is what you are really hiring: somebody who asks the right question about an object you have carried through three homes, and who does not quietly let you put it back in a different box. It is also why this is booked by the hour rather than by the room. Two people can have identically sized kitchens and one takes a morning while the other takes two days, and the difference is not the kitchen.
Three neighbours, and knowing which you want saves a wasted booking. Cleaning cleans around your things; organizing decides which things there are. If the surfaces are covered and what you want is them wiped, book a clean. Junk removal is the disposal at the far end — an organizer will sort, bag and stage, but a full load leaving the house is its own trip with its own vehicle, so say up front whether you want it gone the same day. And packing or unpacking around a move is organizing with a deadline attached: the same skill in a different sequence, because unpacking into a new home is the one chance to decide where things live before habit decides for you.
The regional version of this problem is space, and it comes in two shapes. In a condo there is no basement, no attic and no garage. There is one closet per bedroom, a coat cupboard, and a locker on a parking level that is a lift ride away, so everything you own is either in the unit or it is a separate errand — which makes an organizing session in a tower partly an inventory of a room you cannot see from where you are standing. In the older low-rise stock the opposite is true and it is not better: the basement absorbs everything for twenty years, and it is also the part of a GTA house most likely to have had water in it at some point, which is why sorting one usually turns up boxes that were decided for you a long time ago.
Two things shape the calendar here. This region runs a real winter and a real summer, so a household keeps two complete sets of clothing plus boots, coats and snow gear for everybody, in homes built with one closet each — the changeover is a task in its own right twice a year, and the entryway is where it fails first. The other is what happens to the things that leave. Charity intake is narrower than most people expect: resale condition, restricted categories, and collection from your door is not a given. A session that ends with four bags and no plan for them ends with four bags in the hall. Decide before the sorting starts where things are going — sold, donated, recycled or hauled — and say which in the post, so offers come back with the right vehicle.

Local knowledge
Priced for how the GTA actually lives
Four things that change a home organizing and decluttering quote here, and nowhere else.
No basement, no attic
In a GTA tower half your storage is not in your home
A condo gives you one closet per bedroom and a locker on a parking level a lift ride away. So an organizing session here includes a trip to a room you cannot see from the unit, and a running question about whether a thing is worth the journey it takes to reach it.
Two wardrobes a year
A real winter means every household runs two of everything
Boots, parkas, snow gear and a summer wardrobe, in homes built with a single closet each. The seasonal changeover is a booked task here rather than an afternoon, and it is the request that repeats twice a year in a way it simply does not in a mild market.
Where it goes afterwards
Donation intake here is narrower than people assume
Resale condition, restricted categories, and collection from your door is not a given across the region. That makes the exit route a decision to take before the sorting starts, not after — otherwise the session ends with bags in the hall and a second booking to move them.
A first home here
Setting up after arriving is a different shape of task
The GTA is one of the main landing places for people new to Canada, and a first home has no established places for anything yet. Add a first winter, when boots, coats and gear all get bought at once, and the useful work is building the system rather than reducing an old one.
What an organizing session usually covers
- Walking the space first and agreeing where to start
- Emptying, sorting into keep, go and undecided
- A plain conversation about the undecided pile
- Putting back into a system you can describe to someone else
- Bagging and staging what is leaving, ready for its route out
Hauling a full load away is a separate trip with its own vehicle. Say in the post whether you want it gone the same day.
Try nowWhat to settle before you accept an offer
- Are you sorting with them, or leaving them to it?
- What happens to the discards, and who moves them?
- Do they supply bins, labels and baskets, or do you?
- How many hours, and is a second session likely?
- Will anything need to come up from a storage locker?
House sitting, personal shopping and styling are different bookings with different questions — start from those subcategory pages instead.

Questions
Frequently asked
GTA-specific answers to what people actually search for.
What does a professional organizer actually do?
They run the deciding, not just the tidying. Everything comes out, gets sorted into groups, and each group gets a decision and a place to live. The physical work is fast; the value is in a stranger asking the useful question about an object you have moved house with three times.
Is an organizer the same as a cleaner?
No, and they are separate categories here. A cleaner cleans around your things. An organizer decides which things there are and where they go. If the surfaces are covered and you want them wiped, you want a clean; if you cannot see the surfaces because of what is on them, you want this.
How long does it take to organize a room?
A single closet or a pantry is usually a session. A kitchen, a home office or a bedroom is most of a day. A basement or a whole home runs across several visits. The variable is not the size of the room, it is how many decisions are still outstanding inside it.
Do they take the discards away?
Sorting, bagging and staging is part of the work; a full load leaving in a vehicle is a separate trip and usually a separate booking. Decide the route out before you start — sold, donated, recycled or hauled — and say which in the post so the offers come back with the right vehicle.
Is house sitting the same booking as organizing?
No. House sitting is somebody in your home while you are away, handling post, bins and plants, and it is a different arrangement with different questions about keys, access and how often they attend. It sits under this same heading in our taxonomy, which is why this page names both.
How do I keep it organized afterwards?
Ask for systems you can describe out loud, because the ones you cannot explain are the ones that collapse. A good organizer also leaves you the rule rather than only the result — where new things go, what the empty space is for, and what to do at the seasonal changeover.
