How Taskers are checked

Every Tasker is ID-verified and interviewed before they can work.

Four things have to happen, in this order, before anyone can take a job. Here they are — the whole list.

Identity, verified by Stripe
Government photo ID, checked by Stripe — and the Tasker pays for that check themselves. Nobody drifts onto the platform under a name that isn’t theirs.

A phone we’ve reached
A real mobile number, confirmed by a code we send to it, plus date of birth. Not a number typed into a box and never tested.

A real face
A profile photo is required before anyone can make you an offer — approved or not. You’re letting someone into your home; a face is what makes that an easy yes.

A 15-minute conversation
A live video chat with someone at Taskly before they’re approved. A person, asking questions, forming a judgement.

A new Tasker’s offers don’t reach you until we’ve approved them.

An unapproved Tasker can write an offer, but you’ll never see it. It sits with us until the checks above are done and someone has signed them off. You are not the trial run.

Why getting help is worth it

Greater Toronto’s households carry a heavy invisible workload. Statistics Canada measured the combined paid-plus-unpaid daily work of core working-age adults (25–54) at 7.6–7.8 hours — effectively a second near-full-time job — and valued Canada’s unpaid household work at $581.6 billion in 2019 by the replacement-cost method, about $23,240 per person per year. Time is the scarcest thing most GTA households have. Taskly exists to give some of it back: instead of trading your evening for a chore, you describe the task, accept a fixed-price offer from a reviewed local, and reclaim the hours. You only pay when it’s done.

What is Taskly?

Taskly is a Toronto/GTA marketplace where you can get almost anything done — home tasks, errands, lessons, events, wellness, newcomer help and digital work. You describe a task by typing, speaking or snapping a photo; reviewed local Taskers send fixed-price offers; you pick one and pay only when the job’s done, with your money held by Taskly the whole way.

How does Taskly work?

In four steps: (1) describe your task by text, voice or photo — we classify and price it; (2) someone at Taskly reads it, then reviewed local Taskers send you fixed-price offers; (3) you pick an offer and pay, with the money held by Taskly rather than handed over; (4) payment is released once you confirm the job is done, or automatically 3 days later if you don’t get round to it.

What does it cost to post a task?

Nothing to post. Describing your task, getting a price and comparing offers are all free, and you don’t need an account until the moment you post. You pay the price you agreed with your Tasker, plus a platform fee of 4.9% (minimum $2.99) — shown in full before you pay, never after. Can I post by voice or photo?

You can start either way, and it’s the fastest way in. Speak your task and we’ll write it up; photograph the thing and we’ll tell you what we see and offer a few tasks it might be. Either way you land on a short form where you confirm the details and add anything we couldn’t know — then you post.

What languages can I speak in?

Any of them. Speak in whatever you’re most comfortable in — Punjabi, Hindi, Tagalog, Spanish, Cantonese, English — and your task comes back written in English, ready to edit. You never have to compose in a second language to get a job done.

How is the price worked out?

We read what the job actually involves — the size, the number of things, how urgent it is — and look that up against a fixed rate table. It’s what Taskers typically charge for a task like that. Because it’s a lookup rather than a guess, the same job described two different ways gives you the same number. When a job varies too much to have a going rate, we say so and let Taskers quote instead.

Why does my task need approving?

Because someone at Taskly reads every single task before it goes out to Taskers. It’s how the feed stays clean, how off-platform pitches get caught before they reach anyone, and how we spot a task that’s missing something a Tasker would need in order to quote properly. You’ll get a notification when it’s live — and if anything needs changing, we’ll tell you exactly what, and one edit puts you back in the queue.

When am I charged, and when does the Tasker get paid?

You’re charged when you accept an offer — but the money goes to Taskly, not to the Tasker. It’s held for the whole job, and released when you confirm the work is done, or automatically 3 days after the Tasker marks it complete if you haven’t got round to it. From release, bank transfers usually take 2–3 business days, subject to Stripe’s processing times.

Are Taskers checked?

Yes, and here’s exactly what that means: government photo ID verified by Stripe (which the Tasker pays for), a mobile number confirmed by code, a mandatory profile photo, and a 15-minute video conversation with someone at Taskly before they’re approved. A new Tasker’s offers don’t even reach you until that’s done. That’s the full list — we don’t run criminal record checks and we don’t carry insurance on your job, so we’re not going to imply otherwise.

Can I pick a specific Tasker?

Yes. Open their profile and book them by name — the task goes only to them, nobody else sees it, and they can accept at your budget in one tap or send a counter-offer. If they can’t take it, you can open it to everyone with one more tap, so it’s never a dead end.

What if the work isn’t right?

On online tasks you can ask for a revision, up to two revisions. On work at your home, raise it before you confirm — your payment stays held with Taskly while it’s sorted out, so nothing has moved to the Tasker. Cancellations, refunds and disputes are set out in full in our Terms.

Is my phone number shared with Taskers?

Not by default. Messaging happens inside Taskly, and Taskers browsing your task see the neighbourhood rather than your address. Your full address appears once you’ve hired someone — not before.

Where is Taskly available?

Taskly serves the Greater Toronto Area in Ontario, Canada — including Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton, Markham, Vaughan, Richmond Hill, Oakville, Burlington and the surrounding municipalities.

How is Taskly different from TaskRabbit, Jiffy or Kijiji?

You agree a fixed price up front and your money is held by Taskly until you confirm the job’s done. Taskly’s 20% commission is paid from the Tasker’s side; the poster pays a 4.9% (minimum $2.99) platform fee, shown before checkout. Unlike Jiffy, which is home-maintenance only, Taskly handles almost anything. And unlike Kijiji or Facebook Marketplace, Taskly secures your payment, keeps your number private, reviews every Tasker, and keeps everything on-platform so you have recourse if something goes wrong.
