The standard
Every Tasker here clears this first
We don’t show star ratings until real customers have reviewed real jobs. What’s true today is the standard everyone met to get here — so that’s what we show.

Typical range, GTA
$60–$800
The band is the per-item floor and cap the engine prices flat-pack assembly against. A single small item sits near the floor; a multi-item order or a wardrobe with sliding doors sits near the cap. Generated from the price table rather than typed here, so it moves when the table does. Carrying from a lobby or up a walk-up is quoted on top and is worth naming in the post.

Post this taskWhat flat-pack furniture assembly actually costs here, and why
The build is rarely the hard part. A dresser is under an hour, a desk not much more, and a competent person with a hex key and the manual will get through most cartons without drama. What actually decides whether a GTA flat-pack booking goes well is a question nobody asks at checkout: where, exactly, is the carrier going to leave the boxes, and who is moving them from there to the room the furniture is going in?
Retail delivery in this region comes in tiers and the cheap one is not delivery to your bedroom. Threshold, lobby or front-door delivery means the carrier stops at the building entrance or just inside your door and leaves. Room-of-choice costs more, is not offered by every retailer, and in many condo buildings is not offered at all. So a wardrobe carton can be legitimately delivered and still be three storeys and one narrow staircase away from where it needs to be built. Check which tier you bought before you book the assembly, and if it is lobby delivery, say so in the post — carrying is real work and it should be in the offer rather than discovered on the day.
Then there is the building’s own clock. Where a tower has a service elevator, using it means a booked window, commonly a couple of hours, commonly weekdays only, and set by the corporation rather than by you or the person doing the work. In a newly occupied GTA tower the whole building moves in through that one elevator over a phased occupancy, so windows go weeks ahead. Book the lift first and fit the assembly to it; doing it the other way round is how a confirmed booking becomes a rescheduled one. The older low-rise stock has the opposite problem and it is worse: a third-floor walk-up in the west end has no elevator at all, and a boxed sectional up three flights is a two-person carry before a single screw is turned.
Some items simply want two people and it is cheaper to say so than to find out. A wardrobe is built lying down and then stood upright, which needs clear floor the length of the carcass and a second pair of hands at the moment it goes vertical. Sliding doors want two. Sectionals, stone or glass tops, and anything above about waist height when finished want two. A single-person offer on a two-person item is not a bargain — it is a job that stops halfway.
One thing to get right in a Toronto winter, because it cannot be undone. Flat-pack carcasses are particleboard or MDF with a laminate skin, and a carton left in snow or slush on a porch, in an unheated garage or on a balcony wicks water into the cut edges and swells them permanently. Nothing planes that flat again. If a delivery is landing on a day nobody is home to bring it inside, move the delivery rather than the assembly. And say in your post whether the boxes have already arrived and where they are sitting: that single sentence is the difference between an offer that holds and one that changes at the door.

Local knowledge
Priced for how the GTA actually lives
Four things that change a flat-pack furniture assembly quote here, and nowhere else.
Delivery tier
Lobby delivery is delivery, and it is not the room
Threshold and front-door tiers stop at the entrance; room-of-choice costs more and many GTA buildings do not offer it. A wardrobe carton can be correctly delivered and still be three storeys from where it is built, so say which tier you bought when you post.
The lift window
The building sets the clock, not the build
A service elevator here is booked for a fixed window, commonly weekdays only, and in a newly occupied tower the entire building moves in through it on a phased schedule. Book the lift first and fit the assembly to it — the reverse is how a confirmed date slips.
Walk-ups
Much of the older low-rise stock has no elevator at all
Second and third-floor apartments in Toronto semis and walk-ups get a carrier as far as the front door and no further. A boxed sectional or a solid wardrobe carton up three flights is a two-person carry before any assembly starts, and it belongs in the offer.
Snow on the porch
A carton left outside in a GTA winter is damaged, permanently
Particleboard and MDF wick water into their cut edges and swell, and nothing planes that flat again. If nobody is home on the delivery day to bring the boxes in, move the delivery rather than the assembly — the damage happens before anyone opens the carton.
What to put in the post
- Whether the cartons have arrived, and exactly where they are sitting
- Which delivery tier you bought — lobby, front door, or room of choice
- Elevator or stairs, how many flights, and whether a lift window is booked
- What the items are, with product names if you have them
- Whether anything has to be anchored, and what the wall is made of
- What happens to the packaging when the build is finished
A wardrobe, a sectional and anything with a stone or glass top are two-person items regardless of who is offering.

Questions
Frequently asked
GTA-specific answers to what people actually search for.
The delivery says lobby only. Who gets it to my unit?
Whoever you arrange it with, and it should be in the offer rather than a surprise. Threshold and front-door delivery tiers stop at the entrance, and room-of-choice is not offered by every retailer or every GTA building. Say which tier you bought when you post and the carry gets priced properly.
Do I need to book the service elevator first?
In most GTA towers, yes, and it is the step that decides the date. The window is fixed, often weekdays only, and set by the corporation. In a newly occupied building it can be weeks out because everyone is moving in through the same lift. Book it, then fit the assembly to it.
Can one person assemble a wardrobe?
Rarely, and it is worth being honest about in advance. A wardrobe is built lying flat and then stood upright, which needs a second pair of hands at exactly that moment, and sliding doors need two throughout. Sectionals and stone tops are the same. A single-person offer on those stops halfway.
My boxes were left outside in the snow. Are they ruined?
Possibly, and check the cut edges rather than the surfaces. Particleboard and MDF absorb water at the exposed edges and swell, and that cannot be sanded or planed back. Bring everything inside to dry before anyone starts, and photograph any swelling in case a replacement panel is needed.
Is this different from the general assembly page?
Slightly, and it is worth picking the right one. This page is flat-pack furniture: wardrobes, beds, sofas, shelving, desks. Trampolines, home gym equipment, playsets, pool tables and BBQs are their own category with their own tools, weights and outdoor anchoring questions.
