The animals the dog apps will not take

Dog walking has a dozen apps competing for it. A rabbit that needs feeding twice a day for a week, a saltwater tank that cannot be left, a lizard whose heat lamp somebody has to check — those go unbooked, because the usual services do not touch them. Posters here describe the animal and the routine in the task, and you decide whether you actually know that animal.

What the tasks actually look like

Drop-in visits while a family is away, feeding and cleaning out, a pet taxi run to a vet appointment in Scarborough, grooming at the owner's place, an aquarium serviced monthly, small animals minded over March break. Most are short and most repeat — the same fortnight next year, or every Tuesday — which is why the first booking matters more than the price on it.

Questions

Pet Care work on Taskly

The ones people in this trade actually ask before they sign up.

Do I have to take the animal into my own home?

No, and most posters would rather you did not — they want somebody in their place, on their routine. If you do want to offer boarding, read your own municipality's bylaw first: several GTA cities regulate kennels and cap how many animals may be kept at one address, and that is your responsibility rather than the poster's.

What if the animal needs medication?

Say plainly whether you have done it before and with which species. A cat that takes a pill and a diabetic dog on injections are not the same offer. Ask for the vet's number and written instructions in the chat, and turn down anything you would not be confident doing alone at seven in the morning.

What happens if something goes wrong while they are away?

Agree the plan before they fly: which clinic, who authorises treatment, and what the ceiling on spending is. Owners who have travelled before will have thought about it; the ones who have not will be glad you asked. It is the one question that separates a sitter people rebook from one they do not.

Taskly is new in the GTA. Fewer Taskers means your offer actually gets read instead of sitting behind two hundred others — and the people here first will hold the first reviews.

Every word of that is true, and it is the argument no big platform can copy.
