Typical roller shutter blinds repair & installation in Toronto & the GTA
What does blind and roller shutter repair cost?
Most blind faults are the mechanism, not the blind: a cord that has slipped its spool, a chain off its clutch, a bracket that has pulled out of the frame. All are repaired in well under an hour. A roller shutter with a seized motor or a bent guide rail is the job that sometimes ends in replacement instead.
Ranges come from the same pricing engine a real task is quoted against and cover labour. Cords, clutches, brackets and slats are quoted separately, and on an older or discontinued unit the part is what decides whether repair beats replacement. How we price

| Several blinds in one visit, or a shutter mechanism freed | $160–$360 | 2–4 hrs | 1 |
| A whole floor re-hung, or a motorised shutter serviced | $325–$720 | 5–8 hrs | 1–2 |

What to have ready before you post
Four measurements and one photograph, which together decide whether this is a repair or a replacement.
- How many blinds, and whether the fault is the same on each
- The type: roller, roman, venetian, vertical, or an exterior roller shutter
- The width of the blind and the drop, measured rather than estimated
- Whether it is corded, chain-operated, spring-loaded or motorised
- A photograph of the top of the blind with the bracket visible
The mechanism fails long before the blind does
Blinds are mostly fabric or slats attached to a mechanism, and it is the mechanism that gives up. On a roller, the cord slips off its spool or the clutch stops holding, so the blind either free-falls or refuses to stay where it is put. On a venetian, the tilt rod disconnects from the wand. On a vertical, the carriers come off the track one at a time. None of this needs a new blind, and all of it is an hour or less once the unit is down. The mistake worth avoiding is buying a replacement before anyone has looked, because the fabric or slats are usually fine and a matching new unit is rarely a match.

What actually justifies replacing
Three things: slats or fabric that have gone brittle in the sun, a headrail that has bent, and a discontinued unit whose parts no longer exist. South and west-facing windows across the GTA age blinds faster than the rest of the house, which is why one room often needs replacing while the others are repairable. On an exterior roller shutter, a bent guide rail is the equivalent — the shutter will keep binding at the same point however many times the motor is serviced. Say which way the window faces and roughly how old the unit is when you post; both change the answer.
Brackets and what they are screwed into
A blind that has come down usually took its bracket with it, and the reason is almost always what the bracket was fixed into. A screw into drywall alone holds a light roller and nothing heavier. In much of the older GTA housing stock the window surround is plaster over lath, which crumbles, and in newer condos the reveal can be concrete, which needs a masonry anchor and a hammer drill rather than a longer screw. This is the one detail worth photographing before you post: a picture of the hole the bracket came out of tells a Tasker what fixings to bring, and prevents the visit that ends in a trip to the hardware store.
