Moves you price, not a per-hour rate somebody set

Moving companies bill by the hour and pay you a fraction of it. Tasks here state what is moving, from where to where, and what the poster has budgeted — so you price the job in front of you, including the stairs nobody mentioned on the phone.

What the tasks actually look like

Apartment and condo moves, single heavy items, storage runs, a van and two people for an afternoon. Posters describe the property and the floor, and the ones who mention a lift have usually thought about it. Most need a vehicle.

Access, not distance: what Toronto adds to a task

Working in Toronto is a question of access, not distance. The old city is pre-war housing on narrow streets with public laneways running behind it, the core is towers where the service lift is booked days ahead, and it is the one municipality here where a full day of work is possible without a vehicle.

One municipality owns the whole street

Toronto has been a single-tier city since the 1998 amalgamation of six municipalities, so the arterial, the side street, the sidewalk and the by-law officer all answer to the same City. In Peel, York, Durham and Halton the main road in front of an address belongs to the Region while the street beside it belongs to the local town, and a question about occupying the curb has two possible owners. Here it has one.

The lane behind the house is the loading dock

The old Toronto grid is threaded with public rear laneways, an inheritance of the pre-war city that the post-1970 subdivisions in Mississauga, Vaughan and Brampton do not have. When the front of a Leslieville or Annex address is permit parking and, on the main streets, a streetcar track, the lane behind is where a van actually stops. Knowing which side of the house the work happens on changes the estimate.

Transit is a working tool, not a fallback

Toronto is the only city in this region with a streetcar network — tracks down Queen, King, Dundas and Spadina — and its subway and bus grid reaches most of the built-up area. Tutoring, cleaning, assembly and computer work can be carried across the city on a fare here. In Milton or Whitby two bookings in one day are far enough apart that a car does the work the subway does in Toronto.

Moving & Removals work across Toronto

Tasks come from Liberty Village, King West, Leslieville, The Annex, North York and Scarborough. You set the area you travel to, so you only see the ones you would actually take.

Questions

Moving & Removals work in Toronto

The ones people in this trade actually ask before they sign up.

Do I need a van?

For most of these, yes, and the task says what is moving so you can judge. Some are single items that fit a car.

What if there are more stairs than described?

Say so before you start carrying. The agreed price covers the move as described, and a third floor with no lift is a different job from a second floor with one.

Am I covered if something breaks?

Taskly does not provide goods-in-transit cover. Photograph anything fragile before it moves.

Taskly is new in the GTA. Fewer Taskers means your offer actually gets read instead of sitting behind two hundred others — and the people here first will hold the first reviews.

Every word of that is true, and it is the argument no big platform can copy.
