You cook in their kitchen, not in yours

The searches that land here are restaurant line roles, and that is a different life: somebody else's menu, somebody else's pass, somebody else's hours. What gets posted here is domestic — a week of meals cooked on a Sunday afternoon, a parent taught three dishes they can repeat without you. You work in the client's kitchen, on a date you both agreed, at a price you set.

What the tasks actually look like

Batch cooking for a household that has run out of weeknights, meals built around a coeliac diagnosis or a dialysis diet, a standing Sunday in Markham, and teaching — knife work, a curry somebody's grandmother made, sourdough that keeps collapsing. Kitchens vary wildly, so ask what the hob is and whether there is a second oven before you promise a menu.

Questions

Cooking work on Taskly

The ones people in this trade actually ask before they sign up.

Can I cook the food at home and bring it?

Check with your local public health unit before you offer that. Ontario allows a home kitchen to produce only a narrow set of lower-risk foods for sale, and a cooked meal is generally not among them. Cooking in the client's own kitchen for that household is the model this category runs on, which is why the tasks name an address and a time.

How is this different from private cheffing?

A dinner party is an event: a guest list, a service time, one night that has to land. This is closer to maintenance — the same fridge, the same family, most weeks, and it has gone well when nobody has to think about Wednesday. Price it as a standing arrangement rather than as a one-night menu.

What do I do about allergies and dietary needs?

Get every one of them in writing in the chat, including the ones the poster calls minor. Ask what happens to the leftovers too: food you cooked on Sunday is being eaten on Thursday, so date the containers and say in your offer that you do. It is a small thing that decides whether they book you again.

Taskly is new in the GTA. Fewer Taskers means your offer actually gets read instead of sitting behind two hundred others — and the people here first will hold the first reviews.

Every word of that is true, and it is the argument no big platform can copy.
