Cleaning work you choose, at a price you set

Most cleaning work is sold through agencies that take a cut of every hour and decide your route for you. Here the poster states what needs doing and what they have budgeted, and you decide whether it is worth your morning. A condo turnover and a four-bedroom deep clean are different work at different prices, and you price them differently.

What the tasks actually look like

Standard cleans, deep cleans, and move-out cleans where the deposit depends on the oven. Post-renovation work is its own thing — dust in places a regular clean never reaches. Posters describe the property and the state it is in, so you know before you offer whether it is two hours or a full day.

What Burlington is made of

Burlington is a band of city between the lake and the escarpment, and it has run out of room. Almost everything north of Dundas Street is protected rural land, so the new building here is infill and downtown towers rather than subdivisions, and the housing stock is mostly mid-century with the occasional high-rise dropped in beside it.

The escarpment is the northern wall

The Niagara Escarpment crosses the top of Burlington — Mount Nemo, the Bruce Trail, and the provincial plan that protects them — and it is the reason the city stops where it does. Rural Burlington above the brow is long private drives, wells and septic beds, and a call up there is a different task from one in Aldershot even though the address says the same city.

A small-town main street with towers dropped into it

Downtown Burlington was a low-rise main street and is now taking high-rise infill on the same grid. The combination is specific to it: a new tower with a booked service lift on one corner and, on the next, a 1950s walk-up with no lift, no loading zone and a rear yard reached through the building. The work changes completely across one intersection.

The way east is a bridge

Burlington’s eastern connection funnels into the Burlington Bay Skyway, where the QEW crosses the harbour. When the Skyway is closed or backed up the alternatives are slow and few, so anything booked in Burlington and Hamilton on the same day should be priced with the bridge in it. No other town on this list depends on a single high-level crossing that way.

Cleaning work across Burlington

Tasks come from Aldershot, Millcroft, The Orchard, Brant Hills, Roseland and Downtown Burlington. You set the area you travel to, so you only see the ones you would actually take.

Questions

Cleaning work in Burlington

The ones people in this trade actually ask before they sign up.

Do I need my own supplies and equipment?

Say so in your offer either way. Some posters expect you to arrive with everything, some have a cupboard full and would rather you used it. Neither is standard, and the ones who care will tell you in the task.

Can I do only end-of-lease work?

Yes. You choose which tasks to make an offer on, so you can take only move-out cleans, only regular ones, or only the properties within a certain distance of you.

What happens if the place is far worse than described?

Message the poster before you start. The agreed price covers the task as described, and a task that turns out to be twice the work is a conversation, not something you absorb.

Taskly is new in the GTA. Fewer Taskers means your offer actually gets read instead of sitting behind two hundred others — and the people here first will hold the first reviews.

Every word of that is true, and it is the argument no big platform can copy.
