Remote part-time work in Canada — the task-based version

A good deal of task work never requires you to be anywhere — design, writing, virtual assistance, web fixes, tech support, marketing. Those tasks are open to anyone in the market rather than only the people near the poster, so where you live stops limiting what you can take.

Which task work is genuinely remote

Design and branding, writing and copy, admin and virtual assistance, web and app work, social content, marketing, and a good share of tech support. Tutoring and coaching are frequently remote by the poster’s choice. Anything physical obviously is not.

Priced per task, not per hour

The poster states what they want and what they have budgeted, and you set your own price when you offer. That removes the hourly-rate negotiation that most remote part-time work opens with, and it means a task you finish quickly is a task you were paid properly for.

What "part-time" means here

There is no minimum and no schedule. You take the tasks you want, which for most people is a few a month around other work. Nothing accumulates against you if you take none for a while.

Questions

The ones people ask next

Short answers, and none of them about how much you will earn — that figure does not exist yet and will not be invented here.

Do I need to be in the GTA?

Not for remote tasks. They are open to anyone in the market, so the local supply floors that gate city pages do not limit what you can offer on.

Is this employment?

No. Each task is its own agreement between you and the poster, and you are self-employed for it.

How do I get paid for remote work?

The same way as any task: the poster’s payment is held before the work starts and releases when they confirm it is done.
