Taskly’s 20% comes out of that figure, never on top of it — so what you quote is what the Tasker side costs. And the poster pays Taskly the moment they hire, not you and not later, so you turn up knowing the job is already funded.

What does it cost to become a Tasker?
One charge, and only one: the Stripe identity check at step four. A government ID and a quick selfie — about 30 seconds. Normally CA$35; free while we build the founding team. Everything else — the sign-up, your profile, the interview, being listed, receiving work — is free. Taskly then takes 20% of each job you complete, out of the agreed price rather than on top of it.
How long until I can take work?
You’re on the feed as soon as you’ve said what you do and where you work. To have an offer actually reach a poster you need the four checks done — photo, phone and date of birth, the Stripe ID check, and the 15-minute chat — and then approval. You can browse and write offers before that; they’re held until you’re through.
Do I have to have a profile photo?
Yes, before you can make any offer — approved or not. It’s the one thing we don’t let anyone skip. Posters are deciding whether to let a stranger into their home, and a face is what turns that into an easy yes.
How do I get told about work?
Three ways: the browse feed, ordered by the kinds of tasks you’ve been engaging with but never filtered, so nothing is hidden from you; a notification when a task in your line of work is posted; and direct requests, where a poster picks you off your profile and the task goes only to you.
Can I set my own prices?
Yes. You see the poster’s budget and can offer anything from half to double it. We show three one-tap suggestions — a step under, their number, a step over — but they’re just arithmetic on their budget, and you can type whatever you like. Nothing writes your message for you either.
When exactly do I get paid?
The money is secured with Taskly before you start. It’s released when the poster confirms the work is done, or automatically 3 days after you mark the job complete if they haven’t. From release, it usually reaches your bank in 2–3 business days, subject to Stripe’s processing times.
What if a poster won’t confirm the work?
You’re not stuck. 3 days after you mark a job complete, the payment releases on its own — the confirmation is a courtesy, not a gate. If there’s a genuine disagreement about the work, it goes to a dispute and a person at Taskly looks at it with both of you.
What if I can’t take a job I was asked for by name?
Say so — it hands the task straight back to the poster, who can open it to everyone with one tap. Declining costs you nothing and doesn’t remove you from anything.
