About the role

An HR Generalist at Taskly (also called People Operations Associate, HR Executive or People Partner) makes the first week at a remote company feel organized. The team is small and spread across India, the US, Canada and the UAE. You handle contracts, onboarding, policies and payroll coordination for people in four countries at once. None of it is complicated alone, but all of it has to be right.

You would work with the founder, the Talent Acquisition Specialist and finance. Six months in, success looks like every new hire starting with a signed contract, working tool access and a clear first week. It also looks like plain-language policies in one place, and payroll or contractor payments that go out correctly and on time. You will build the people basics that a small team usually postpones until something goes wrong.

What you’ll do

  • Onboard remote hires across four countries: contracts, documents, tool access and a first-week plan with named people. Check in after day one, day five and day thirty.
  • Set up and manage contracts through employer-of-record and contractor-payment tooling. Track which arrangement applies to each person and country.
  • Coordinate payroll and contractor payments with finance each month. Collect inputs, check amounts and currencies (CAD, INR, USD, AED) and fix errors early.
  • Write and maintain people policies in plain language, covering working hours and the shared window, conduct, remote-work expectations and how concerns are raised.
  • Run simple people processes: check-ins at 30, 60 and 90 days, feedback cycles and offboarding steps. Keep each one on a single page.
  • Keep employee records accurate and private, with access limited to the people who need it, and review who has access every quarter.
  • Answer questions quickly. Take country-specific rules you are unsure about to the legal and compliance associate and outside advisers.

What you’ll need

  • 2+ years in HR generalist, people operations or HR executive work, ideally for a remote or multi-country team.
  • Hands-on onboarding, contracts and employee records, run without someone else’s template, from offer letter to offboarding.
  • Working knowledge of payroll coordination: inputs, cut-offs and reconciling amounts against what people were promised.
  • Experience with an HRIS or employer-of-record platform, and with Google Workspace.
  • Discretion with sensitive information, and a calm, fair way of handling difficult conversations, whether about a pay error, performance or ending a contract.

Education: A degree is welcome but not required. Experience running onboarding and payroll across countries matters more.

Nice to have

  • Experience with employer-of-record or contractor platforms such as Deel, Remote or Rippling.
  • Familiarity with India payroll compliance (PF, ESI, TDS) or with contractor and employee rules in Canada or the US.
  • An HR certification such as CHRP, SHRM-CP or CIPD, or startup people-operations experience.
  • Experience writing handbooks, onboarding guides or other documents that new hires actually read.

About Taskly

Taskly is a marketplace for getting anything done. Someone posts a task in their own words — typed, spoken or as a photo — and people who have been reviewed and approved send offers at a firm price. They pick one, and it gets done: a TV mounted, a website built, a parent taught to use their phone. We’re live in Canada and India and opening to more countries, built by a small team that works remotely across India, the US, Canada and the UAE.
