About the role

A Business Operations Analyst at Taskly (also called Operations Analyst, Business Analyst or Operations Associate) turns the daily running of a marketplace into numbers the team can act on. You use SQL and Google Sheets to answer questions like which categories in which city have enough Taskers. You also answer how long approvals take and what a completed task earns after payouts. It suits someone who likes to ask why a number moved before anyone else does.

You would work with the founder, marketplace operations and finance, close to the data in Taskly’s Postgres database. Six months in, success looks like trusted weekly dashboards and a unit-economics view for each city. It also looks like at least one process you redesigned that now takes less time. You will learn how the whole marketplace fits together faster than in almost any other role.

What you’ll do

  • Write SQL to answer questions about tasks, offers, Taskers, approvals and payouts. Check each answer before you share it.
  • Build and maintain weekly dashboards for supply, demand, funnel conversion and approval times in Metabase, Looker Studio or Sheets.
  • Model unit economics by city and category: average task price, Taskly’s roughly 20% share, payment costs and support cost per task.
  • Map and redesign operational processes such as Tasker approval, dispute handling and refunds, with clear steps, owners and measures.
  • Size new-city and new-category launches: expected demand, the number of Taskers needed and the economics at that scale. Flag the assumptions most likely to be wrong.
  • Write a weekly summary in plain language that the founder can read in three minutes. Lead with the answer, then the evidence.
  • Find data-quality problems, such as misclassified tasks or missing fields, and raise them with engineering. Track each issue until it is fixed.

What you’ll need

  • 1–3 years in business operations, analytics, consulting or an operations role where you worked with data every week. Examples from your own work are welcome.
  • SQL you can write without help, including joins, aggregations and window functions, ideally on PostgreSQL.
  • Advanced Google Sheets or Excel: pivot tables, lookups and models other people can follow.
  • The habit of explaining a number: where it came from, what it ignores and what you would do about it.
  • Clear writing for short memos and process documents that busy people read to the end.

Education: A degree is welcome but not required. Work samples that show you can answer a question with data matter more.

Nice to have

  • Experience at a marketplace (Airbnb, Uber, Urban Company, Swiggy, Airtasker, TaskRabbit, Upwork) or another two-sided product.
  • Python (pandas) for analysis, and a dashboard tool such as Metabase, Looker Studio, Tableau or Power BI.
  • Experience with data in more than one currency or more than one country.
  • A habit of documenting your queries so other people can reuse them.

About Taskly

Taskly is a marketplace for getting anything done. Someone posts a task in their own words — typed, spoken or as a photo — and people who have been reviewed and approved send offers at a firm price. They pick one, and it gets done: a TV mounted, a website built, a parent taught to use their phone. We’re live in Canada and India and opening to more countries, built by a small team that works remotely across India, the US, Canada and the UAE.
